COACHING
Gain some clarity
Space to think more clearly.
Good coaching isn’t about giving you the answer. It’s about creating the right environment to see your own situation more clearly, so you can learn to trust your judgement in the future.
MENTORING
Lighten the load
Bringing experience into the conversation.
Think of mentoring as coaching with a sat nav. You’re still in the driving seat, but you have a co-pilot who knows the landscape.
CONSULTANCY
Need a hand?
Expertise, recommendations and delivery.
Sometimes you know what you want to achieve, but the plan isn’t fully formed yet. We can work on it together, figuring out the detail as we go.
Our Approach
The Art of Counterbalance
We look at the whole picture before assuming something needs fixing — there’s often a genuine problem, but it’s rarely quite what it first looks like. When something does need dealing with, we’d rather tackle it while it’s still small, before it becomes the elephant in the room.
Counterbalance isn’t about removing ambition or energy — it’s about noticing when too much attention is being pulled in one direction at the expense of everything else. Treat people well and you need fewer wellbeing initiatives to compensate. Look after customers properly and you need fewer discounts to keep them. Build things right the first time and there’s less to fix later.
People, environment, community and commercial interests aren’t separate boxes to tick — they affect one another. Looking at the whole picture means recognising those connections rather than treating each one in isolation.
Backroom CEO
Life Can’t Always Be Dealt With Smartly
Illness, bereavement, divorce, family pressures or any unplanned event are rarely expected or convenient. Yet somehow, we still expect ourselves to return to normal the moment the immediate crisis is over.
That simply isn’t always realistic.
CALLCUT can’t deal with the crisis for you, but we can take some of the business pressure off while you do.
This isn’t about a leader being incapable. A perfectly capable person may temporarily not have their usual bandwidth, and things they would ordinarily deal with can become harder to manage when their attention is quite rightly needed elsewhere.
Backroom CEO isn’t only for difficult periods. A leader may be growing the business, managing change, carrying too much personally, or simply want experienced thinking capacity alongside them without creating another permanent senior role.
Leading a company can be lonely, so an extra pair of hands can make all the difference.
The Longer View
Business Doesn’t Have To Feel This Unsettled
Constant urgency can look remarkably like productivity. But a business that continually needs rescuing, fixing or propping up may be telling you something.
Quick decisions, ambition, momentum and leaps into the unknown all have their place — they’re part of the fun. But not every decision needs to be made for the immediate result. Sometimes it’s worth pausing to consolidate, take the longer view, and weigh the consequences earlier rather than bolting them on afterwards.
Don’t just ask, “Will this work?” Ask, “Will this still work?”
